About

Nancy Kay Creations is my most recent incarnation of my love of arts and crafts, bringing to you my unique jewelry and art creations. I hope you enjoy my art and craft as much as I love creating it.I have always been a creative person. I originally was going to be an interior decorator, as a child I would redecorate my doll house every other week. I loved playing with the different patterns of wall paper and furniture lay out. As I got older I would dig out my father’s architect drawing set (my father was a firefighter so I do not know why he had that set, but am glad he did) and draw rooms and floor plans. I then moved on to redecorating my bedroom; almost every month it would look different.

In high school I decided that I wanted to get into fashion design. One of my teachers had given me a fashion design textbook and I read it from front to back. I would try to draw clothing, but my drawing talent did not go past squares and rectangles. After High School I got into crafting. Originally I would play with flower crafts. I made a lot of wreaths.

Life got busy and I let my creative side get away from me. Eventually it found me again. About 5 years ago I began looking for a new hobby. I really wanted to learn to knit, so I taught myself. I have always been a do-it-yourselfer, and a perfectionist, which has resulted in my learning very slowly. I still cannot knit more than squares and rectangles.

I eventually tired of only knitting and wanted to try something new, and that is when I found my craft, beading. I have always loved working with colors, mixing and matching, and beading brought out that natural talent in so many ways. Working with beads and wire brought back my love of crafting. I started making jewelry and got into other types of art, like painting. Eventually people starting noticing my jewelry and started to inquire about buying it. I was a little shocked, after all I had just started and was nowhere near professional quality jewelry making. I had little faith in myself, but so many people had faith in me that I started to think that maybe I could do this. And here I am.

I hope you enjoy my art, jewelry and photography. If you would like to also follow my personal exploits; homeschooling, etc., you can follow me at Nancy’s Life.
